Know what the estimate covers.
A useful estimate starts with the actual door, lock or vehicle. Ask what is included before agreeing to the work.
Describe the job, not just a service name
A request to change keys might concern one suitable cylinder, several doors or a managed shared-key arrangement. A vehicle key might require different parts and programming from another key that looks similar. Those details affect the proposed work.
Give the address and symptoms, say whether a working key remains and describe the existing hardware. If you have bought parts, mention the exact product before arranging a visit.
Ask about each part of the total
Clarify the visit charge, labor, parts and any key cutting or programming relevant to the request. Ask what the estimate assumes and what would need a separate assessment.
No fixed prices are published here because the actual scope and compatible parts have not yet been assessed. Do not treat another property’s quote as a confirmed price for your job.
Agree on a change before proceeding
If inspection changes the proposed repair or shows that replacement parts are needed, ask how the scope and total will change. Discuss the revised work before making a decision.
For rented or managed property, ensure the authorized contact is part of the conversation. Availability and timing are confirmed separately for the location and task.
