Locksmith in Allston, Boston
Moving into an Allston apartment or dealing with an entry problem? Start with the unit, the door and any building-management instructions.
Move-in questions worth sorting out
Around Harvard Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue and Brighton Avenue, the useful detail is the actual building entrance, not just the nearest busy street. Tell us whether you need help with a private unit door or an entrance shared with other residents.
Before a planned lock change, check who can approve it and whether a shared key arrangement must be retained. A new key for your apartment should not be assumed to change access elsewhere in the building.
Keep key access and door condition separate
If previous occupants may have keys, discuss rekeying suitable hardware. If the lock sticks or the door does not latch reliably, explain those symptoms as well. Rekeying alone does not correct every door problem.
If you are locked out, say whether the keys are inside, missing or no longer working. Current availability, authorization requirements and the proposed visit are discussed for your location.

Worth knowing.
Should a renter arrange a rekey directly?
First coordinate with the landlord or authorized property contact. Explain any shared entrance or key arrangement when discussing the request.
